Our travel highlights for 2015

Following our career break in 2014, when we spent 7 months travelling around South America, 2015 was always going to be a little less travel-ey. However, we still managed to get in some great trips.

Here are our highlights:
Fairytale Tallinn
In early April, over the Easter weekend we headed to Estonia's capital Tallinn for an explore of the fairytale city.

Despite the cold (yes it snowed) we loved wandering around the pretty old town and going up Toompea Hill to survey the town.

We also enjoyed sampling the great craft beers on sale in town and in the trendy Kalamaja district (where we stayed). And we were surprised by the range of tasty vegetarian options on offer.

Hanging out in India
We have friends living in Bangalore and so wanted to see both a bit of their expat life and also see a bit of southern India at the same time (having been to the North West a few years ago).

We found Bangalore a liveable and modern city and enjoyed hanging out there with our friends, before heading off to the coast and the pretty town of Pondicherry and the temple filled Mamallapuram.

We then headed away from the heat and up to the hill station of Ooty to explore the tea plantations and the tall pine woods (and some great food, although we struggled to find beer!)

Beautiful Italy
Our final foreign trip of 2015 was to Naples, Capri and the Amalfi coast.

During our stay, we had a day, exploring the ancient city of Pompeii and climbing Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed it in AD79.

We got engaged on Capri (!), before heading to Positano to explore the towns and the countryside between them on the Amalfi coast.

And the whole trip was punctuated with delicious Italian food, including one of the best meals I've ever had in Da Toninos on Capri.

What's in store for 2016?
So, what will 2016 bring for us?  Well, we're getting married in June and so have lots to organise and money to save. This is likely to mean we won't get much travel in.

However, excitingly I'm starting to plan the honeymoon. We'll have to make sure it's extra good! (And comes with a side order of champagne.)
